Tackle Talk for the week of November 18

The Susquehanna River has been up and down several inches this week but it remains to be seen if any of the storms that may hit the northern part of the state will affect the river here. Smallies are still hitting some surface lures at times, such as Smithwick Devils Horse, Heddon Tiny and Baby Torpedoes and Gaines Crippled Killer's are working well. Walleye catches have been good in several places but sporadic in others. The lures of choice for walleye have been Rapala Glass Raps in various colors. All baits should be fished slow and close to the bottom...

Anglers are reporting good fishing in most area streams and on the Susquehanna River at most of the popular locations, but we have to wait and see how the rain affects the fishing in coming days.  With the bags lowered at the Adam Bower Dam with good water and wadeable conditions for the most part anglers have been doing well.  There have been large numbers of fisherman along the banks and in boats form the Bower Dam south to McKee's Half Falls.  The smallmouth bass action has been pretty good at most areas on the river.  Old Trail 3 1/2inch...

Tackle Talk for the week of October 21

The Susquehanna river has been higher than normal for the past several weeks but it remains to be seen if any of the storms that hit the two branches upstream will affect the river here.  Smallmouth bass fishing has been good for the past several weeks even though the river has been high at most locations.  Smallies are being taken on live medium shiners, Mizmo salted tubes in firebug colors, Venom 3 1/2 inch Gobies in smoke and Lil Fishie 3-inch shad in various colors, spinner or jigged rigs work best.  Some of the better bass action has been from...
