Tackle Talk for the week of June 30

The Susquehanna River levels are finally become lower now that the recent heavy rains are over.  Both branches of the rivers are in good shape.  On the river, fishing for muskie and walleye has been picking up at most locations.  The lures of choice for muskie have been Creek Chub, Suick and Blue Fox Musky Buck spinners.  Walleye are being taken on large live shiners, Slug-Go's Salty Spiders and Rapala Husky Jerks fished slowly and close to the bottom.  Most of the popular locations are producing well.  Late evening and early morning hours are the best times for larger fish....

Walleye action is sporadic in the river, catching smaller ones during the day. Some nice walleye are emerging after dark on both sides of the PP&L dams and the Adam Bower Dam. Large smoke, chartreuse twist minnows and Rapala lures in vampire, hot steel and clown colors are working well. At McKees Half Falls, there are some walleye being caught. Large live shiners, Slug-Go's, Salty Spiders and Bomber lures are a good...

Tackle Talk for the week of June 2

The Susquehanna River is fairly high and off color in some areas, from recent rains upstream.  In some areas smallmouth bass are hitting spinner baits and crankbaits, but the best action in the off color water is for channel and flathead catfish.  Catfish are hitting large live shiners, nightcrawlers and 5" sunfish.  Walleye fishing has picked up a little below the Adam Bower Dam.  Anglers are reporting nice walleye caught at various locations this week on Blue Fox silver spinners, Mister Twister Exude 4" tubes and large live shiners.  Muskie action has been picking up at most of the popular...
