Tackle Talk for the week of September 3

Old Trail Tackle & Sports Tackle Talk

Several anglers have reported good bass fishing at Rose Valley Lake this past week.  Large numbers of bass were taken on 4-inch and 6-inch salted Squirmin' Lizards, 4-inch Zipper worms and No. 5 Rapala Skitter-Pop lures.  The Susquehanna River is low with bags No. 1 and No. 7 replacement starting this week.  Anglers are reporting some good walleye and smallmouth bass fishing in the Danville area.  The baits of choice have been Owner Bugeye and Lure Jenson (Dalton Special) lures.  Old Trail Salted Tubes in smoke/purple and smoke/blue have been working well for smallies.  Walleye have been hitting on 4-inch Chompers twist grubs (garlic and salt) and worm rigs tipped with live nightcrawlers.  Walleye fishing is picking up at various locations on the river, mostly late evening into early morning.  Smallmouth bass anglers are catching some nice smallies as McKees Half Falls mostly on top water lures such as Whopper Ploppers, Rebel Pop-R's, Yo-Zuri ZZ Pops and Storm Chug Bugs which all are working well.  Muskie action has been picking up at most locations.  Some of the most effective lures have been XPS Demon Eye, Rapala F18 Clown and Savage 3D Rat.
