Tackle Talk for the week of September 29

Old Trail Tackle & Sports Tackle Talk

The Susquehanna River is low and some areas have moss problems. Anglers wading and covering a lot of territory are doing well catching smallmouth bass. Old Trail salted tubes in smoke/blue flake, black/red flake and War Eagle spinner baits in various colors are producing some nice fish. Some walleye are being picked up at popular areas. Several nice walleye were caught this week on Cotton Cordell Big O’s in smokey joe and crawdad colors. White Deer and Fishing Creek anglers have reported some success even though the water is low with live butterworms, medium shiners, and small Panther Martin spinners. Raymond Winter Lake has been good this past week. The baits working well have been Berkley Power Bait in lime twist and corn flavors. Channel catfish and flatheads are hitting in most areas using real chicken livers, live nightcrawlers, and 6-inch sunfish are the baits of choice. Crappie fishing is picking up at Walker Lake, Faylor Lake, and Little Buffalo Lake using small tubes, spinner baits, and Berkley Power Bait are the baits of choice. Some of the top producing river lures this week have been Arbogast Jitterbugs, Hula Poppers, Heddon Torpedos, Lucky 13, and Smithwick Devils Horse.
