Tackle Talk for the week of September 1

Old Trail Tackle & Sports Tackle Talk

The Susquehanna River is low and off color in some areas. Smallmouth bass are being caught on Salty Spiders and large Slug-Go- lures. Anglers are reporting good fishing on both branches of the river. The baits of choice have been Old Trail salted tubes soaked in your favorite attractants. Rapala Shad Raps, Rebel Pop-R’s, and large live shiners. At the Adam Bower Dam all species of fish are being caught. All types of baits are working including Storm Thundersticks, double crawler harnesses, and Old Trail salted tubes in various colors. Smallmouth bass fishing has been especially good around the Adam Bower Dam using live shiners, butterworms, and large live nightcrawlers. Smallie fishing fairly good at Shady Nook around the eel wall area. The baits of choice are medium live shiners, Gaines Crippled Killers lures, and Blue Fox minnow spins. Channel and flathead catfishing has been good at most of the popular locations with Magic cut shad bites, large live nightcrawlers, and Sudden Impact dip baits. Muskie action has been good at most of the popular locations. Trout streams are low but are still producing quite a few fish. The lures of choice have been small Mepps and Blue Fox lures.
