Tackle Talk for the week of Sept. 25

Old Trail Tackle & Sports Tackle Talk

The Susquehanna River is low in most areas, but anglers are reporting some walleye action in some of the popular areas.  The baits of choice have been3.5” Old Trail Tackle & Sports Premium Salted Tubes in chartreuse, smoke and green pumpkin colors, fished close to the bottom.  Rapala lures #9 in gold and black, clown and yellow perch are also working well.  At Shady Nook area some nice channel cats have been caught on bloodbaits and catfish baits fished on spring treble hooks.  At the Adam Bower Dam on the Shamokin Dam side, some nice smallmouth bass are being caught on River2Sea S Waver 120, 4” Rig Walker in various colors and Cordell Wally Divers in chartreuse, perch and chrome blue.  Large live shiners are also working well.  Anglers are also picking up some larger smallies on Yo-Zuri 3D Shad, Rebel Crawfish, Storm Sub-Warts and XPS lures.  The better smallmouth reports are coming from fisherman who cover a lot of water.  The deeper areas and the bigger rock ledges are producing the best results.  Walker Lake has been producing some nice largemouth.  Case 4.5” senkos-type worms and buzzbaits during the day, and Jitterbugs or Crazy Crawlers at dusk or dawn are producing some nice largemouth bass.  Muskie action has been picking up at the popular spots.  The lures of choice have been Blue Fox Musky Bucks and Swim Whizz lures.
