Tackle Talk for the week of October 27

Old Trail Tackle & Sports Tackle Talk

The Susquehanna River on both branches is low and off color from recent rain. The bass fishing is good some days and slow other days. There is some topwater action for bass. Senkos, Old Trail salted tubes and Cabin Creek salty spiders in green pumpkin, watermelon, black/red flake are also working well. Topwater fishing seems to be best as dark approaches and the deeper holes are holding some nice fish. Walleye fishing has been spotty but there has been some nice catches. Night fishing for walleye has been producing the most catches. Walleye are being taken mostly on 6-inch Slug-Go’s in rainbow trout and golden shiner colors. Grubs 3-1/2 inch in smoke, motor oil, and cotton candy and Smithwick Walleye Rogues are also working well. Musky action has been decent with a few nice fish caught in line spinners and jointed minnows. Anglers are also reporting some decent fishing at the Montour Preserve, Faylor Lake, and Walker Lake. These lakes have been producing some nice crappies on small rubber twisters, Berkley Power Bait, and Northland Mimic Minnows.

Rich Stehley and friends had a successful fishing trip for their annual NY salmon trip. Congratulations on some great catches!
