Tackle Talk for this Week
Anglers have been doing well this past week on the Susquehanna River. Most of the better fishing has been from the PP&L Dam on the Shamokin Dam side south to Hoover’s Island. With the Adam Bower Dam being deflated walleye fishing is picking up with some nice fish being caught. Medium live shiners, Old Trail Tackle & Sports Premium Salted Tubes in various bright colors and Rapala #9 original lures are a good bet and working well. Smallmouth bass fishing has also been good at most of the popular locations. Baits of choice have been 3.5 inch rubber twist minnows in motor oil, chameleon, smoke & green pumpkin. Kalin's grubs in the popular bass colors are also working well for smallies. There have also been reports of some nice muskie being caught at several of the hot spots on Bomber Long A’s in rainbow color, Muskie Angler double blade fire tiger, and Rapala F18 in purple descent color are working well. Channel cats and fatheads have been fairly active. Large live shiners and 3-inch sunfish have been working well. Some of the better daytime cat fishing has been around the lower tips of the islands south of the Adam Bower Dam.
Jake Pontius caught this in a pond out in Kreamer using the Whopper Plopper 90-BlueBlood color. Great catch Jake!
