Tackle Talk for the week of November 27

Old Trail Tackle & Sports Tackle Talk

The Susquehanna River is low and in good condition, but is producing fairly well with all species of fish being caught by the persistent angler. Some nice walleye and smallmouth bass have been taken at the Adam Bower Dam behind the lowered bags in the deeper holes mostly on Old Trail Salted Tubes in smoke/red flake, medium shiners and Rapala X Raps in black/silver and olive green are working well. Fisherman on the Sunbury side of the PP&L Dam have caught quite a few walleye, mostly at night. Catfishing at most locations has been good, live shiners have been the bait of choice this week. Baits working best below both PP&L Dams for all species of fish have been Vibrax Minnow Spins (Blue Fox), Fuzz-E-Grub and Lunker City Fin-S-Shad in various colors. There has been some activity on the trout streams with small shiners and redworms working best. All area lakes are producing well with 3 1/2” grubs in smoke and motoroil a good choice for most fish. Muskie anglers are reporting many sightings in clear water and some nice catches for fisherman who have the time and skill to pursue these fish. Muskie have been going for Storm Kickin’ 6 and 10 inch minnows, and Musky Mania Jake and Burts have also been a good choice.
Photo Details:Dan Raup caught this huge musky on the Susquehanna below the fabridam on a Mepp's Musky Killer. Amazing catch Dan! Congratulations!
