Tackle Talk for the week of November 13

Old Trail Tackle & Sports Tackle Talk

With temperatures in the 60’s and plenty of water, most anglers are reporting good fishing on the Susquehanna River.  Some nice smallmouth bass have been caught from the Adam Bower Dam south to Cherry Island.  The baits of choice have been large live shiners, large night crawlers and 3-inch Slug-Gos.  Walleye fishing is in full swing, with some of the nicer fish being caught after dark.  Fuzz-E-Grub jigs, medium live shiners and Old Trail Salted Tubesblack/red flake, smoke/red, and chartreuse colors are working best.  Channel and flathead catfishing throughout the Susquehanna has been good this past week.  The best baits for catfish are large live nightcrawlers and Berkley PowerBait Catfish Bait Chunks fished on spring treble hooks.  Some nice muskie have been caught at some of the popular locations.  Lures that have been working well this week have been Rapala No. 18 Mags, Creek Chub Jointed Pikie, and Muskie Mania Burts.  Many cold-weather anglers switch to live bait this time of year.  Fish can be caught on artificial lures, although fisherman have to fish a little slower and concentrate on deeper water.
