The Susquehanna River has been somewhat high this past week, but most anglers are reporting catching all species of fish. You never know what you are going to catch at the Adam Bower Dam, this time of year, its not unusual for trout to be caught there. The Adam Bower Dam is almost fully inflated for the summer season. Fishing below the dam has been very good. Anglers are reporting some nice walleye being caught, as well as some brown trout, all on the Shamokin Dam side around bag No. 7. Most of the walleye are being taken on Mepp’s spinners, large butterworms and live medium shiners. Catfishing has been picking up in most areas, with the Shady Nook area south to Fisher’s Island the most productive. Most catfish are being hooked of prepared catfish baits on large live nightcrawlers fished on No. 1/0 treble hooks. Trout fishing at Raymond B. Winter Lake has been very good. The bait of choice has been Berkley Powerbait in corn and lime twist. Anglers are also reporting good trout hook-ups on Little Shamokin Creek, Mahantango Creek, Muncy Creek and Clark’s Creek. Waxworms, small Mepp’s, Blue Fox spinners and Panther Martin spinners are the baits of choice. There have been a few shad showing up at the Adam Bower Dam and we should soon see a lot more in the next few weeks.
Leon Jurgill Jr. caught this beautiful golden rainbow on a Mepps #2 Aglia Spinner on Pine Creek. Fantastic catch Leon! Congrats.
