Anglers are reeling in some nice walleye on the Susquehanna River even though it is somewhat high for this time of year. The baits of choice have been live medium shiners and 5-inch smoke and motor oil rubber twist minnows. Fishing has been good around the Adam Bower Dam south the Hoover's Island. Some muskie are being taken at most of the popular locations, mostly on larger lures. Water levels in most areas are more than adequate and fishing in general has been good. At White Deer Creek, trout are going for small Blue Fox, Rooster Tail and Thomas spinners. Penns Creek trout are being caught on the current fly hatches as well as waxworms and butterworms. At Walker Lake, all species of fish are being taken on all the popular baits. At upper reaches of Middlecreek, fishing has been fairly good for anglers using small Panther Martin spinners in various colors, Phoebe lures and fathead minnows to land some nice trout. Carp and channle cats are hitting nightcrawlers and medium live shiners in side channels and backwaters along the river. Some of the bigger specimens are being taken in the slow current areas.
Gary Drumheller caught this beauty in Klingerstown, PA. Another great catch by one of our customers! Congratulations Gary!
