Tackle Talk for the week of June 16

Old Trail Tackle & Sports Tackle Talk

The Susquehanna River has been somewhat high this past week but most anglers report catching all species.  The Adam Bower Dam is fully inflated for the summer season.  Fishing below the dam has been good.  Anglers are reporting some nice walleye being caught, as well as some large brown trout and large flathead catfish, all on the Shamokin Dam side below bag No. 7.  Most of the walleye are being taken on worm rigs tipped with large butterworms or medium live shiners.  Other walleye lures such as Rebel, Rapala, Bomber and Cotton Cordell are also a good choice.  Channel catfishing has picked up in most areas, with the Norry Point area south to Fishers Island, the most productive.  Most catfish are being hooked or prepared catfish baits or large live nightcrawlers on No. 2 treble hooks.  Trout fishing at Raymond Winter Lake has been good.  The bait of choice has been Berkley Power Bait in corn and lime twist.  Anglers are also reporting good trout fishing on Little Shamokin Creek, Mahantango Creek, Muncy Creek, Little Pine and Clarks Creek. Waxworms, small Mepps spinners in various colors and small flatfish lures are the baits of choice.
