Tackle Talk for the week of December 24

Old Trail Tackle & Sports Tackle Talk

Fishing at the Adam Bower Dam has been good for this time of year.  Anglers are picking up walleye mostly on large 5-inch rubber twist minnows with 1/4 ounce jighead with 3/0 hooks in smoke, motor oil and chartreuse colors.  The best time has been early morning and having a boat will help get to the best holes.  If the Susquehanna River stays decent with the current warm spell, we could see some large walleye caught as well as other species.  Some large smallmouth bass have been caught around the Isle of Que on motor oil and green pumpkin twist grubs, large live shiners are also working well.  This time of year is generally good for fishing as long as we have good weather.  Anglers are reporting some good trout fishing on most trout streams.  Blue Fox and Mepp's #1 & #0 spinners in various colors fished slowly through deep holes have been producing some large trout.  This has also been a good week for local lake fishing at Little Buffalo and Walker Lake.  Both have been producing well on live medium shiners and small rubber tubes in various colors.  Musky action has been picking up from the Adam Bower Dam south to Hoover's Island, most of the popular muskie lures are working well.

Old Trail Tackle & Sports wants to wish everyone a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season and a Happy New Year!

Duayne Foust caught this huge carp weighing around 35 pounds and a length of 37 inches. He was jigging for walleyes with a smoke twister and caught this instead! Great catch Duayne!
