Tackle Talk for the week of August 27

Old Trail Tackle & Sports Tackle Talk

Tackle Talk for this Week...
The Susquehanna River is low and wadeable in muddy places, but anglers are reporting some good hook-ups. There were a few nice walleye caught below the Adam Bower Dam. Smallmouth have been picky but the ones caught have been large. Medium live shiners, Rapala vampire and X Caliber Zel Pop lures are working well. Topwater action for smallies has been good a various locations mostly in deeper water. Fishing around grass patches is usually productive and throwing Bandit Mad Cow or Heddon Moss Boss along the edges of weed beds usually gets some action this time of year. Some stripers are still being caught as several locations by anglers fishing for smallmouth bass. Channel and flathead catfishing has been good some nights and bad some other nights. The better catfish hook-ups are coming on hot nights on live shiners and chicken livers fished on liver hooks. There are still quite a few trout in most area streams. Butterworms, redworms and waxworms are the baits of choice. The rain this week seemed to spark the fishing to some degree with a lot more anglers showing up on local waterways. Musky action has been steady with best action coming from various brands of in-line spinners.

Photo Details: Jaron Geiser caught this 19 inch Smallmouth Bass on white grub under the Selinsgrove power dam. Great catch Jaron! Congratulations!
