Madison caught her first bass at Shady Nook using the Old Trail Tackle & Sports Salted Tubes in green pumpkin. It was 4.5 pounds and 12 inches long.
Great catch Madison!!
This past week saw some good fishing on the Susquehanna River at the Adam Bower Dam, south to McKees Half Falls. Anglers were reporting all species of fish being caught in short periods of time. Medium live shiners, large nightcrawlers and Old Trail salted tubes are the baits of choice. At the Shady Nook area, some nice catfish have been caught on Magic Bait in blood and chicken flavors, placed on spring treble hooks and fished on the bottom for best results. Please be aware smallmouth bass are spawning, weather permitting, so nests should be avoided and all smallmouth should be quickly released. Some nice crappie are being caught at Blanchard Lake, Walker Lake and Little Buffalo Lake. Waxworms and small rubber twisters have been the baits of choice for crappie. Channel cat anglers are picking up some large cats after dark, mostly on live nightcrawlers. Anglers are reporting good trout fishing on most streams, which are clear and low. The best live baits for these low water conditions have been waxworms, and rosy red minnows. With the warmer weather, there has been a lot of fly hatch activity on most trout streams. Fly fishing anglers are catching some large trout matching the hatch. Some of the better hatches have been on the Southern streams.
