Susquehanna River levels are above normal but must anglers are reporting better than average fishing in most areas. Some nice smallmouth bass are being caught and released, mostly close to the shoreline in popular backwater spots. Three-inch twist grubs in flat colors such as motor oil, watermelon and smoke are working well. Also, effective are Old Trail Tackle & Sports Salted Tubes in black/red flake, dark green, and pumpkin/green flake. All baits are working best if fished slowly and close to the bottom. There have been reports of several nice channel catfish being taken on large live shiners and nightcrawlers. Water temperatures are rising weekly and if this trend continues the fishing should improve as well. At this point, most trout streams are in excellent condition with good water flow. Muskie action has been fair at most popular locations.
