The Susquehanna River has been high the past week but anglers are reporting some nice smallmouth bass and walleye being caught at the Adam Bower Dam on the Shamokin Dam side and the Shady Nook area. Medium and large shiners are the baits of choice though some smallies are being taken on Old Trail salted tubes in the most common colors fished slowly off the bottom using 1/4 oz. jig heads. Quite a few walleye have been taken by anglers using Reef Runner Little Ripper and Ripstick lures,
Storm Wild Eyes, and medium live shiners are also working well. Some nice catfish are still being caught at several locations from the Adam Bower Dam south to Hoover's Island. Catfish anglers are reporting the baits of choice have been large live nightcrawlers and chicken livers. There has been some muskie action on large bucktail jigs and 6 inch paddle tail shads. Most trout streams are in good shape for the time being. They will be stocked on a weekly basis until the opening week.
